A Year Of Gifts
It has been a tough winter already and it has only just begun! Sometimes, it is hard not to complain about the discomforts in our environment (the cold, pollen allergies, humidity etc.). Rather than bemoan the weather, I try to remind myself of the joys of living in a climate where there are seasons.
Every season brings its own gifts: In winter, snowflakes dance on the wind, magically stacking themselves on the even the most narrow twig. Flowers bulbs that lie dormant all winter erupt with color and fragrance during spring. The summer sun warms the skin and the long periods of light make us feel as if there are more hours in the day. The vibrant reds, yellows and oranges of the trees against a cloudless blue sky and the sounds of leaves rustling herald the pleasures of autumn. These are the earthly delights that can sate us.
Likewise, the change of seasons reflects the inevitability of change in life.
We can either get bogged down in the minor discomforts or we can learn to appreciate the abundance of each season of our lives. Which will you choose?
